| Properly designed public interpretive programs are an effective method of educating the public on historic preservation, and can serve as a mitigation measure for project effects. LSD’s Cultural Resources, Graphics, Community Planning and Design, and Urban and Site Design teams collaborate in the development of appropriate content, setting, and design of interpretive elements to achieve maximum effectiveness.
Our comprehensive approach to interpreting and documenting historic and prehistoric elements includes archival research; photo and oral documentation; interpretive text development; contextual development of architectural features, including monuments and markers, graphic icons, ramadas, special paving; and contextual landscape and site amenity features (e.g., benches, seatwalls, trash receptacles) that reflect the period and character of the interpretive element. |
