Section 404 of the CWA regulates ground-disturbing activities within waters of the United States. LSD’s Permitting Team has provided Section 404 evaluations and permitting services for hundreds of projects around Arizona. We have an excellent working relationship with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Arizona Department of Transportation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department, and the State Historic Preservation Office, who provides input on any Corps-issued permits.
We prepare jurisdictional delineations for waters of the United States. (including wetlands), and produce nationwide and individual permit applications to authorize the construction of stormwater management facilities, drainage improvements, culverts, roadways, bridges, airports, traffic interchanges, rest areas, commercial developments, residential developments, maintenance facilities, water lines, sewer lines, cemeteries, water treatment plants, recreation centers, campgrounds, habitat restoration, trailheads, multiuse trails, and sports complexes. LSD routinely uses in-house biologists and archaeologists to obtain consensus for mitigation proposals for permanently affected resources.
In addition to obtaining permits, LSD provides Section 404 training to municipal and state agencies and to selected utility companies.
