LSD’s open space and recreation master planning experience includes large regional park feasibility studies and master plans; countywide parks, recreation, and open space master plans; open space acquisition strategies; and environmental inventory studies for open space and recreation planning. LSD has completed municipal and countywide projects, as well as projects for Arizona State Parks and the Coconino National Forest. To date, we have planned and designed more than 4.5 million acres of parks and recreation areas.
To develop these plans, LSD collaborates with affected municipal departments, agencies, special-interest groups, and interested citizens as part of the planning and design process. The fundamental steps in our planning process are project initiation, including inventory and analysis; public input and programming; needs prioritization; planning standards and guideline development; conceptual, preliminary, and final master plans; master plan approvals; and phasing and implementation programs.
