LSD has participated in the development of aesthetic improvements for more than 100 projects in Arizona and the Southwest, including thematic development for bridges, sidewalk surface treatments and patterns, site and noise walls, drainage structures, interpretive signage, icon development, custom site furnishings, and lighting. We use a collaborative approach, working with the entire design team (which could include artists and other disciplines) to arrive at comprehensive and creative solutions.
When conceptualizing possible design solutions, LSD considers the surrounding context of each project through visual analyses, GIS mapping, photo/sketch overlays, and other study methods. We also consider such factors as pedestrian circulation, visitor comfort, motorized and nonmotorized conflicts, pathway linkages, scenic quality, and signage. For all projects, we incorporate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
