Landscape Architecture
Infrastructure Planning and Design
Freeways, Highways, and Streetscapes
The Infrastructure Team’s extensive transportation and streetscape experience includes designs for urban and rural streetscapes, highway landscapes, transit centers, light rail lines, bus stops, and maintenance facilities. Our clients include the Arizona, Nevada, and Maricopa County Departments of Transportation; the Federal Highway Administration; and local governments. Design challenges have included close coordination with local and remote artists to integrate our mutual ideas into creative urban landscapes and incorporating increased security measures into the design of a municipal facilities. Collectively, LSD’s landscape architects, designers, and irrigation specialists have more than 350 years of experience providing transportation-related landscape and irrigation design services.

For 17 years, LSD has provided transportation-related landscape and irrigation design services to local, state, and federal agencies in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, California, and Hawaii. We understand the interrelationship of state and federal environmental clearance processes and have excellent working relationships with varied technical groups and agencies involved in developing and implementing transportation projects. Our staff, which includes 13 landscape architects, 6 designers, construction administrators, and a certified irrigation designer/auditor, have a thorough knowledge of the design, construction, and maintenance practices associated with multiuse trails, local streets, and freeway and highway projects. LSD has completed more than 500 multimodal landscape design projects on schedule, within budget, and to the highest degree of design quality and service.

LSD has a proven track record of producing imaginative, original streetscapes, ranging from natural landscapes to highly urbanized pedestrian areas. Our streetscape designs often incorporate public art, bus shelters, pedestrian comforts, shade structures, multiuse paths, and wayfinding and interpretive signage. LSD provides a variety of services for streetscape projects, including base map generation; site analysis; concept development; landscape, hardscape, and irrigation system design; and landform/grading work. Utility coordination is an important aspect of streetscape projects, as well as coordination with affected community stakeholders. LSD also has experience in coordinating environmental, utility, and right-of-way clearances.
