Effective meeting facilitation is an important component for securing meaningful stakeholder input during the public involvement process. LSD matches the facilitation method to the goals of the public involvement program/project; the information desired; the participants involved; and the organization’s requirements. Successful facilitation requires planning, detailed coordination, and an effective meeting facilitator. Our public involvement staff have experience on a variety of meeting types and methods, and diverse experience, including controversial projects.
LSD can plan and coordinate all components of a public meeting including identifying the project stakeholders (including affected agencies, community members and organizations, elected officials, and business groups); drafting and placement of the meeting notice; drafting and production of meeting materials and displays; securing the facility; providing refreshments; and designing an appropriate room layout.
During the meeting LSD ensures that questions and comments are accurately recorded. Following the meeting, the public input is summarized in accordance with the client’s needs or requirements in a memo or report, and the meeting effectiveness is reviewed with the project team.
